Actor Shia LaBeouf Arrested on Disorderly Conduct Charges

July 10, 2017

Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested early Saturday in Savannah, Georgia. The Transformers star was booked on charges of disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and obstruction, according to police.

The Chatham County Sheriff's Office says that the 31-year-old actor was taken into custody around 4 a.m. He was released after posting $7,000 bond later Saturday morning.

The arrest stems from an incident earlier in the evening when LeBouf allegedly asked a bystander for a cigarette. The bystander did not give him a cigarette and LaBeouf became agitated, according to police.

LaBeouf began to act aggressively and did not follow the instructions of the police. An officer attempted to arrest him, but he ran into a nearby hotel. He was then taken into police custody.

The actor is in the Savannah area filming his new movie, The Peanut Butter Falcon. The film also stars Dakota Johnson.

This is not the first time LaBeouf has made headlines for incidents involving alcohol. He has been arrested in 2007, 2008 and 2014. In 2014, PEOPLE reported that the actor voluntarily sought treatment for an alcohol addiction.

LaBeouf's publicist and manager have not commented on the incident.
